Supercharged MCT Turmeric Latte: Recipe Served at The Keto Live Conference

Last week, Rene from Lus Health Ingredients and Lotte were present at the Keto Live Conference in Bergün, Switzerland. This conference was organized by Keto Live, and will be repeated next year. It had been an amazing week during which we learned so many new things about the role of a ketogenic die in the prevention and treatment of a variety of non-communicable diseases. Groundbreaking and promising talks were given on topics such as Diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and cardiovascular diseases. During the event, it was our responsibility to keep everyone in the room hydrated and sharp to say ;) To accomplish this mission, we decided to serve a supercharged turmeric latte with MCT. A powerful drink high in antioxidants with many (anti-inflammatory) health benefits. According to us, a great addition to the overall topic of the event. This spicy yet tangy keto turmeric latte (kurkuma for the Dutchies) is a great substitute for your regular keto coffee if you want to drink less caffein, want to reduce your calorie intake but not your fat intake or if you feel like your body can benefit from some extra antioxidants. The combination of sweetness and spiciness is perfect to start your day full of energy, and kick some ass! Normally, a turmeric latte is without any butter or oil. But if you add a tablespoon of high-quality MCT oil, you have a perfect keto proof warm drink.

Some facts about the health benefits of MCT turmeric latte

The most important nutrient in turmeric is curcumin, which has many health benefits. It is one of the most promising phytochemicals that can decrease the risk of developing Diabetes Type 2, and lifestyle diseases. Also, it has great anti-inflammatory properties. It is important to combine curcumin with high-quality fats, and pepper for better absorption. Ingredients for 1 cup of keto turmeric latte

  • 100 millilitres of 100% unsweetened almond milk

  • 50 millitres of unsweetened heavy cream

  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric (kurkuma)

  • 1/3 teaspoon cardamon

  • 1/3 teaspoon cinnamon

  • Few drops stevia

  • Few drops vanilla extract

  • 1 tablespoon of high-quality MCT oil

  • Bit of pepper

  • Saffron to taste (to make it extra sexy!)

The secret really lies in the presence of cardamon, since this spice gives it the extra authentic flavour. Do feel free to experiment a bit with adding more or less spices or even other ones. Own discovered combinations are always the best!

How to prepare this supercharged MCT turmeric latte

  1. Super easy! Use a pan to warm up the almond milk and cream, while adding all the ingredients. Wait until the MCT is fully melted, and the latte is warm and smooth. Important note: warm it up till only about 60 degrees! It is not a drink to overheat.

  2. Allow the keto turmeric latte to sit for ten minutes or so to improve the infusion of all the spices.

  3. Then, use a milk frother for a few seconds to make the drink extra creamy.
